The Purple Thistle is a local institution and serves the best food (no kidding) in a 50 mile radius. The menu is extraordinary, the staff is friendly and the kitchen is dedicated to turning out fabulous cuisine that you are unlikely to find the equal of outside The City, much less in the boondocks of Mendocino county. Every dish and each vegetable and vintage is selected from the finest the area has to offer and prepared and paired with the love and attention to sourcing and details that you would expect from a much haughtier establishment. They are down to earth and down WITH the earth, and you WILL be down with the comestibles. Prices average around $25/person for dinner (not including wine)

Great Food….. I had a chicken dish that was wonderful and my dinner partners had halibut, steak and shrimp. Mar 20, 2009 We stopped in at 8 pm on a Thursday. Front restaurant (where we ate) is intimate and refined. Pub in the back had patio seating and live music. Small operation, but wow.
