1. Setup is independant of ground surface conditions (no roots, rocks, sloping ground need deterr the tired traveler)
2. No unwanted visitors (scorpions, skeeters, ticks etc.)
3. Depending on how you set it up, you can be out of reach of even larger visitors (bears, people, dogs)
4. Quick setup and takedown, light weight and easy compact storage
The first question that most people have about hammock camping is “But what if I can’t find a place to tie it up?” I’ve been doing this for decades and have ALWAYS found a place to tie up, from the Grand Canyon to the high Sierras to the back of a billboard in Tennesee (in a thunderstorm no less). A little prior planning can prevent PPP, such as having about 50′ of extra rope and a few assorted rock nuts and D rings for setting up in rocky landscapes.
Out here in green northern California, the biggest dilemma is often to decide which of the several hundred gian redwoods to string it up between. On the other hand, there are certainly a couple of major quirks about hammocks that you need to be prepared for. The firs and most important is that, since your backside is up in the air, it can get mighty cold when a mountain wind blows.
The Clark North American model has been my favorite way to address this issue for a couple years now. It’s roomy integrated storage pouches, when stuffed with your sweater, coat and other such gear makes a pretty effective butt warmer. Toss a couple thermochemical heating pouches in there too and, with the right sleeping bag, you’re good down to 20F.
I’ve made my own and used commercil products from other makers and I can say without any reservation that this is the best product on the market for cyclist, hikers and hunters.
As the say at Clark;

Wow, this looks awesome. I recently went on a camping trip with some of my buddies. We all slept on the ground, but one of the guys did bring a hammock. Nothing compared to this amazing outdoor hammock! The funniest part of the trip was when one of the bigger guys tried to take a nap in the hammock, and it broke. We laughed and laughed. I will have to seriously look into getting a tent hammock before our next trip.
