Clark Jungle Hammock

Clark Jungle Hammock Company makes the best hammocks for teh serious Adventurer. I built my own hammock tent in 1975 for my first cross country hichhiking trip and used it for several years after. A hammock has many advantages versus “ground hogging”, or standard terrestrial camping;

1. Setup is independant of ground surface conditions (no roots, rocks, sloping ground need deterr the tired traveler)

2. No unwanted visitors (scorpions, skeeters, ticks etc.)

3. Depending on how you set it up, you can be out of reach of even larger visitors (bears, people, dogs)

4. Quick setup and takedown, light weight and easy compact storage

The first question that most people have about hammock camping is “But what if I can’t find a place to tie it up?” I’ve been doing this for decades and have ALWAYS found a place to tie up, from the Grand Canyon to the high Sierras to the back of a billboard in Tennesee (in a thunderstorm no less). A little prior planning can prevent PPP, such as having about 50′ of extra rope and a few assorted rock nuts and D rings for setting up in rocky landscapes.

Out here in green northern California, the biggest dilemma is often to decide which of the several hundred gian redwoods to string it up between. On the other hand, there are certainly a couple of major quirks about hammocks that you need to be prepared for. The firs and most important is that, since your backside is up in the air, it can get mighty cold when a mountain wind blows.

The Clark North American model has been my favorite way to address this issue for a couple years now. It’s roomy integrated storage pouches, when stuffed with your sweater, coat and other such gear makes a pretty effective butt warmer. Toss a couple thermochemical heating pouches in there too and, with the right sleeping bag, you’re good down to 20F.

I’ve made my own and used commercil products from other makers and I can say without any reservation that this is the best product on the market for cyclist, hikers and hunters.

As the say at Clark;

ABOUT CLARK OUTDOOR PRODUCTS

The Clark Jungle Hammock story spans five decades, beginning in 1965 when Gary Clark produced the world’s first light-weight camping hammock in his Salt Lake tent shop. This revolutionary design hearkened back to the sturdy WWII models while utilizing modern materials to create an ultra-light, compact shelter. Clark’s vision for durable, effective camping hammocks continues today. Expect your Clark hammock to be perfectly stable, insect-proof and rain-safe. A Clark hammock is built for the long haul.

Since 1997, Clark has sold the world’s finest camping hammocks to a global community of hammock-campers who believe in comfortable, no-trace camping. Clark’s design has attracted dozens of imitators, but is yet to be matched in its ability to meet all of nature’s demands. Clark hammocks are packed with features you’ll find nowhere else.

THE CLARK DIFFERENCE

Our mission is to produce camping hammocks that are better than they have to be. We never sacrifice the integrity of our products by skimping on materials. We expect your hammock to last a lifetime.

We believe in “open hammocks.” The zippered netting of a Clark allows you to enter or exit the hammock on both sides. When not needed, the netting unzips to fold away and create an open-air hammock. In a Clark, getting up in the middle of night is just like rolling out of bed.

We provide storage for your gear. Only the Clark Jungle Hammock provides storage in pockets which hang underneath your hammock bed. Your boots and gear are protected and within arm’s reach.

We provide cold-weather features. When winter temperatures arrive, you’ll be glad to have the North American model which allows you to enclose the hammock like a true tent. The North American’s insulating pockets shield you from frigid winds.

We are proud to be an American company. Every Jungle Hammock is still produced in our Salt Lake City facility where we ensure perfection in each shipment. This is why we can absolutely guarantee your satisfaction.

We back up our products. If you find anything you do not like about your Jungle Hammock, simply return it within 30 days of purchase for a full refund of the product’s sale price (minus a 7% re-stocking fee). See Our Guarantee for full details. ”

    Wow, this looks awesome. I recently went on a camping trip with some of my buddies. We all slept on the ground, but one of the guys did bring a hammock. Nothing compared to this amazing outdoor hammock! The funniest part of the trip was when one of the bigger guys tried to take a nap in the hammock, and it broke. We laughed and laughed. I will have to seriously look into getting a tent hammock before our next trip.
